GPS Mystery Tour: Fri. and Sat. 8;30am – Download a GPS route, ride and answer some questions on local history. On completion you can draw for a chance to win a prize at the information booth. Cowboy Breakfast Sat 7:30am Main Gate – We are bringing back a rally favorite, now in its 3 year. Many people really enjoyed this event and some were not able to due to limited capacity. So with help from the Grant County Stockgrowers we expanded our event and it should be even better this year. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a Cowboy Breakfast in a unique country setting on an operating ranch. There also will be an opportunity to tour the ranch property, and see an operating livestock ranch in Eastern Oregon.
We’ll ride (or drive if you must) to a Ranch in the local area starting from the fairgrounds main gate. We’ll have two groups leaving at either 7:30 or 8:00 AM Saturday morning, June 18.
Breakfast will be prepared between 8:00 and 9:00 AM by the Stockgrower’s Association.
There are two ways to reserve your spot but they are limited
Email or phone in your reservation to Jay Bennett at jay_bennett@pacifier.com or 541-760-0675 then pay at the rally before 5:00PM on Friday at the Rally Central (Information Booth).
You can sign-up and pay at Rally Central (Information Booth) by 5:00PM on Thursday June 16.
Self-Guided Museum Tour: Fri. and Sat. All Day – Explore the region’s past by visiting four museums in the tri-cities of John Day, Canyon City and Prairie City. The museums are within 13 miles of one another. One is within walking distance of the fairgrounds. Collect an information sheet with directions, fees and hours of operation at Rally Central. Maybe even work in a lunch. Get you map at the Information Booth
Coffee with Dave: Fri. and Sat. 7:00am Keerins Hall - An informal round table discussion where you can have some coffee and a snack to start the day. Bring your curiosity, questions, and whatever thoughts you’d like to share. Dave has conducted his “coffee” sessions at BMWMOA and BMWRA rallies, where he has developed a reputation for impromptu gags, demonstrations, bad jokes, contests, and occasionally–unique insights into riding skills and street survival. BMW MOA Rider Performance University – StreetSmart Workshop – Fri 8:30am Kerrins Hall – Safer riding is largely a skill of the brain and eyes. Do you always know what you see? Are you looking for the right things to be a safer rider? Do you know what to look for, and where? This ninety-minute, classroom-only program is designed to improve a rider’s perceptual skills. Modern visual technology is used to stimulate using the eyes and mind for improved identification of traffic hazards. Challenging visual exercises engage riders to think more about understanding what they see, and making sure riders see what is important in every traffic situation. Take-away materials are provided
The workshop is limited to 25-30 participants, to facilitate an engaging and interactive learning experience. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat. Sign up at Keerins Hall.
BMW MOA Rider Performance University – SeasonedRider Workshop – The objective of the Workshop is to help riders become aware of the general effects of aging on those skills necessary to ride safely, and to encourage those steps to become increasingly safe and responsible motorcyclists. The course provides opportunities to discuss the affects of aging on riding skills to include how aging may result in both positive and detrimental effects on personal judgment and performance; its affect on vision, cognitive functions and motor skills; the effect of medications; and provided participants an opportunity to share some real-life experiences. There is no cost to attendees.
The workshop is limited to 25-30 participants, to facilitate an engaging and interactive learning experience. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat..
BMW MOA Rider Performance University, is pleased to introduce the SMARTrainer, – Fri 1:00pm and Sat 9:00am – Main Pavilion - The SMARTrainer is a fully-functioning motorcycle-training simulation device, for use in Rider Performance University educational events. Plan to spend fifteen minutes on the simulator displaying your critical mental and visual motorcycling skills in a ‘risk-free’ environment.
Student-riders will negotiate a variety of traffic situations, common ones that we all encounter while riding, on the SMARTrainer. Professional SMARTrainer Coaches will provide encouragement and feedback, or possibly even a timely riding concept that can help you reduce your risks while riding. A personalized “Rider Report Card’ is furnished to each student-rider, and each SMARTrainer rider will leave with a personalized safer-riding concept that can make a difference in our safety and enjoyment.
Many student-riders find that their mental visual skills are up to the tasks of reducing risks while riding, while others may discover some ‘missing pieces,’ without suffering the injuries and damage associated with a motorcycle-crash.
– SMARTrainer, SeasonedRider and StreetSmart learning programs are provided to Rally Attendees as part of the BMW MOA Rider Performance University, the rider education and training initiative of the BMW MOA, funded by the BMW MOA Foundation. For more information about the training programs and how you can support the work of the BMW MOA Foundation please contact www.bmwmoafoundation.org
