June 14, 2017 - THE RALLY ON-LINE REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED. HOWEVER, YOU CAN STILL REGISTER AT THE GRANT COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS GATE.
CHIEF JOSEPH RALLY - Join us at the Grant County Fairgrounds, nestled in the scenic Strawberry Mountains, John Day Oregon, for a weekend of terrific riding, seminars, food and fellowship. This historic city is located at the Junction of Hwys 395 and 26. Enjoy the West’s best riding; gold and cattle country, refreshing mountain passes, painted hills, river canyons, and wide open desert. All this in one day’s riding! Visit the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument or any of four different museums. Begin planning your trip now! Oregon is for Riders! Come to John Day and see what we mean!
Your rally fee covers 2 nights of green grass camping, a Friday and Saturday night meal (currently in the planning stages), hot showers, seminars, door prizes and organized or individual rides (with route maps).
BREAKFAST - Breakfast will be available at the fairgrounds Pavilion building on Friday and Saturday morning.
GEOLOGY ROCKS TOUR - These two tours are a fundraiser for the Grant County, Juniper Arts Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to promotion of the visual and performing arts and art education.
The tours will feature the landscape, geology and cultural history of Grant County. They will be led by retired John Day Fossil Beds park ranger, John Fiedor, who led the tours at the 2014 to 2016 Chief Joseph Rally.
Each tour has about seven stops and covers about 125 miles, round trip, all on paved roadways. Pull-offs may be dirt and gravel. The tour on Friday will be a repeat of the first tour given in previous years, heading west through Dayville. The Saturday tour repeats the NE loop trip of 2016. The tours will take approximately 5 hours depending on the number of questions at each stop.
There is a participation fee of $20.00 per motorcycle, NOT per person. The fee is a donation to the Juniper Arts Council and is not refundable. The registration for the tours will be handled by the Chief Joseph Rally organizers. Since the limit is 25 bikes per tour, participants should sign up for only one tour, which allows more bikers at the rally to participate. The tour will begin at the fairgrounds back entrance (near the KJDY radio station); gathering at 11:30 am near Keerins Hall to check in and sign waiver papers. Bring your own refreshments for the road.
