UPDATE!!
Ladies & Gentlemen:
It's official...authorities announced the closure of I-84 through the weekend and beyond. But fear not! For as that famous civil-war-era ride leader, Horace Greeley, uttered when confronted with ride-threatening fires, "Go west, young man!"
So go west, we shall. Join us for a hastily composed, but chock full of fun romp to
Astoria
. In typical over-the-hill-and through-the-woods fashion, we'll meander through Scappoose and beyond. Our destination is
Buoy Beer
, a fine eatery and brewery overlooking the Columbia. We may have to endure a small wait (they don't take reservations), but setting is gorgeous and the ride will give us plenty to talk about. We'll return via Olney and Jewel, where those who've had enough can pop out to Sunset Highway. The rest of us will gas up in Vernonia before breaking for home.
Should be every bit as fun as we would have had going in the opposite direction. If you agree, you know the drill:
With your tank full
, show up
this Saturday
at
Tigard BMW
anytime after 8:30;
clutches out promptly at 9:45
. Map is attached. To help us with headcount, shoot me a reply if you're planning to come. But just showing up is okay too. Questions? Don't hesitate to ping me.
See you Saturday,
David W. Peterson

Ladies & Gentlemen:
I know the First Saturday has come and gone; we'll blame that on the holiday. But Saturdays roll around like clockwork, so
this Saturday, September 9th
, we'll make up for lost time. Join us as we run a lap around Mt. Hood. Don't worry...no Hwy 26 for us (well, okay, 18 miles). More like Estacada, Tygh Valley, followed by lunch at
Kramer's Market
in Dufur. Then on to Hood River via Cooper Spur, a stop for gas, then home. About 315 miles, depending where you live. A map is attached.
If it sounds like your cup of tea, join us on Saturday.
As usual, we'll meet at
BMW Motorcycles of Western Oregon
in Tigard
. Doors open at 8:30am;
clutches out promptly at 9:45
. Make sure you
get there with a full tank
; there's no fuel for the first 100 miles. (Well, there might be...but we're not stopping.) Questions? Don't hesitate to contact me.
Look forward to seeing you Saturday,
David W. Peterson
